Wynnewood

Wynnewood is a suburb west of Philadelphia and is located in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County and Haverford Township, Delaware County It was named in 1691 for Thomas Wynne, William Penn's physician.  

Lower Merion Township is the fifth-most-affluent township in the United States. Wynnewood is one of many neighborhoods on the historic Pennsylvania Main Line. It is home to Lankenau Hospital and the highly acclaimed  private school, Friends' Central which goes from Kindergarten to 12th Grade.

Wynnewood  is mostly residential, with its shopping in various clusters.

The largest shopping center is the Wynnewood Shopping Center. Other shopping centers are Wynnewood Square. Whole Foods will be opening a new market along with satellite stores adjacent to it. The Main Line Train stops in Wynnewood which makes it a desirable town to live in for those who work in the city of Philadelphia.

It boasts tree-shaded streets and mature old stone homes. Wynnewood is also  known for its car dealerships, which line Lancaster Avenue from South Wynnewood to Argyle Road.

Opposite the Wynnewood Shopping Center is the Wynnewood train station. Wynnewood is located along Lancaster Avenue (U.S. Route 30) and is also easily accessible from nearby Interstate Routes 76 (the Schuylkill Expressway east and west) and 476 (the Philadelphia bypass nicknamed the "Blue Route", traveling south and north between Chester and Interstate 95 in the south and Plymouth Meeting, Germantown, and the east-west Pennsylvania Turnpike in the north).

Most of Wynnewood's public school children attend the Merion, Penn Wynne or Penn Valley elementary schools, part of Lower Merion School District. Bala Cynwyd Middle School; and have a choice between Lower Merion High School and Harriton High School.
